Counseling
In counseling, my goal is to help you identify goals and potential solutions to problems that might be causing emotional distress. It is my hope that we use our time together creating strength in your self-worth, and coping skills. If you are feeling lost in life, struggling with depression, anxiety, ADHD, or facing difficult times, I am here to support your journey to healing and growth.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is based, in part, on faulty or unhelpful ways of thinking. In CBT therapy, we work to recognize distortions in thinking that are creating problems, and then reevaluate them in light of reality. CBT therapy has been proven to improve the lives of many, helping teens and adults cope with stress, anxiety, depression and relationship issues.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy
Dialectical Behavior Therapy, also known as "DBT" is a modified type of Cognitive behavioral Therapy. The main goals of DBT is to teach ourselves how to live in the moment, develop healthy ways to cope with stress, regulate their emotions, and improve relationships with others. DBT skills can support people facing a range of difficult circumstances and mental health diagnoses, including neurodiverse individuals.
"Success as a therapist is not found in doing something for the client, but rather in being someone for the client."

My Approach to Therapy
When we go to the doctor, we seek to treat a specific problem and find relief. It is my belief that therapy should be the same way. As you come to work on a particular problem, my hope is to create solid goals that help you learn how to love and depend on yourself. My role is to be there in your growth, encourage you, and help you see things from different perspectives. I help you identify the unhealthy behaviors that are causing distress and create new, rational behaviors that help you gain confidence and self-worth. There might be one thing that you want to work on, or a trauma that has played a big part in your life today, causing what you perceive as a disaster. What seems to be impossible, will be addressed in achievable and relevant way that doesn't make you feel like you'll be lost in life anymore or "stuck" forever.
As your therapist, I see things from the 30,000 foot view, knowing that your success is within reach, but also understanding that there will be hills and valleys to get there.
